For I said in my haste, "I am cut off from before Your eyes"; Nevertheless You heard the voice of my supplications when I cried out to You.

Psalm 31:22 (NKJV)

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, Who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

James 1:5 (NKJV)

Commentary:

Sometimes difficult things happen.  Sometimes there are hard decisions that must be made.  Sometimes problems seem overwhelming.  Life is not always lived on the mountaintop.  There are valleys, and sometimes the valley is dark and scary.  Anxiety, fear, dread, worry fills our thoughts and compounds the fog in the valley.

It is tempting to immediately turn to the world's solutions.  Loud voices recommend worldly therapy, medicines, supplements, activities, self-help books or podcasts, and certainly God can use these things.  Therapy, medicine, counsel from "experts" is good and helpful in its place.  But when faced with hardship of any kind, the believer's first reaction should be to seek counsel from the Lord.

God is the author and creator of all knowledge and every good thing.  Ask Him for wisdom.  Seek guidance from Him.  Spend time in earnest prayer and in His Word.  He hears.  He knows.  He has the answers.  And He loves you.
