Again, the kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.

Matthew13:44 (NKJV)

 Commentary:

How precious is salvation!  It's value is far above earthly riches.  It was paid for with the precious blood of the sinless Son of God.  He did not have to pay this terrible price for us.  He did it because He loves us with a love beyond human comprehension.  His gift is precious.  His gift is priceless.  How blind if someone receives this priceless gift, and then puts it aside, out of sight, to collect dust.  How blind if instead of cherishing this precious gift, they give all their time, energy and  attention to earning money, pursuing pleasure, and polishing trophies, none of which have any lasting value.

A winning lottery ticket would not be tossed on the car floor.  A diamond would not be casually dropped in the junk drawer.   Our salvation is the most valuable, the only really valuable possession we have, and we didn't even earn it.  It is a gift we should treasure, nurture, guard, and display.  We should be sharing this Good News of the Savior to anyone and everyone.  We should live in constant adoring praise and gratitude.

Our salvation is a treasure we should rightfully be obsessed with.  There is nothing else in this life that compares to this precious, priceless gift.

In God is my salvation and my glory;  The rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.

Psalm 62:7  (NKJV)
