Week 9/22-28/2024
Suggested Scripture to Ponder this week:
Jeremiah 24:5-7
"Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: 'Like these good figs, so will I acknowledge those who are carried away captive from Judah, whom I have sent out of this place for their own good, into the land of the Chaldeans. For I will set My eyes on them for good, and I will bring them back to this land; I will build them and not pull them down, and I will plant them and not pluck them up. Then I will give them a heart to know Me, that I am the Lord; and they shall be my people, and I will be their God, for they shall return to Me with their whole heart.

Commentary:
God is in control. He is Almighty God. If we belong to Him, He orchestrates our lives. When bad things happen, we can cling to Him with confidence. He has promised He will never leave us or forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). What looks bad to us will work for our good. That can be very hard. Terrible things happen in this sinful world. In our darkest hour it is especially important to lean on Him and not to lean on our own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6). Our wisdom is earthly and shallow. His wisdom is eternal and omniscient. He loves us. We can trust Him to get us through even overwhelming obstacles. He is The Almighty. Nothing surprises Him. He is in control. We now see only dimly (I Corinthians 13:12). When all is revealed we will clearly see how God cared for us in ways we cannot imagine.
